UK King’s Daughters is a 465-bed regional referral center in Ashland, Kentucky. We are part of the University of Kentucky Health system. We operate 40+ primary care clinics in outlying areas of Kentucky and Ohio which refer patients from a catchment area of about 750,000 people to our main campus for testing and treatment. This year, we have begun a large construction project on campus, which will provide us with a new main entrance, a brand-new ER, and an all-new Imaging Department. Our Emergency Department sees nearly 70,000 patients per year. We have nearly all medical specialties here at our facility, except pediatric subspecialties. Three years ago, a nearby community hospital was closed, and since then, our facility has experienced tremendous growth in patient volumes, as most of the physicians from the closed facility joined our medical staff.

We have an open position for a Cardiac Anesthesiologist. The successful candidate must be fellowship trained in Cardiac Anesthesia and must be certified or planning to become certified in Advanced Perioperative TEE. We currently have two Cardiac Anesthesiologists on staff.

The incoming anesthesiologist will be an employee of the medical center and will receive a salary of $600,000. We also provide full benefits including health, vision, dental, and life insurance, paid malpractice, eight weeks vacation, and a week off for CME (plus $5k for expenses), 401K/403b plan + physician-only CAP plan, and a call rotation of 1:3. A signing bonus and student loan repayment are available as well. The cardiac anesthesiologist will be doing cardiac, vascular and thoracic cases, as well as structural heart cases in the cath labs, and will be supervising a team of five CRNAs who are dedicated to working in the cardiac area.

Ashland, KY is a town with a population of about 25,000 people, located along the Ohio River. We have a nice, clean town with minimal traffic, a beautiful and very active performing arts theater, indoor tennis center, a large downtown park, and boutique shopping. Our Tri-State region (Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia) is renowned for safe, family-friendly communities with an excellent cost of living. We also have some of the country’s finest state parks and other outdoor areas that feature golf, skiing, boating, fishing, hunting and biking. We have four seasons, all of which are relatively mild. We’re also a short drive to metro cities in Ohio (Cincinnati and Columbus) and Kentucky (Lexington and Louisville). And we are located about 20 minutes from Huntington, WV, a town about twice the size of Ashland and the home of Marshall University. Additionally, about two hours away in West Virginia, there is excellent snow skiing and the New River Gorge National Park, which offers multiple outdoor activities such as whitewater rafting, rock climbing and hiking.
