UK King’s Daughters is a 465-bed regional referral center in Ashland, Kentucky. We are part of the University of Kentucky Health system. We own 40+ primary care clinics in outlying areas of Kentucky and Ohio which refer patients from a catchment area of about 750,000 people to our main campus for testing and treatment. This year, we have begun a large construction project on campus, which will provide us with a new main entrance, a brand-new ER and an all new Imaging Department. Our Emergency Department sees nearly 70,000 patients per year. We have almost all medical specialties at our facility, except pediatric subspecialties. Three years ago, a nearby hospital in the community was closed, and since that time, our facility has experienced tremendous growth in patient volumes, as most of the physicians from the closed facility joined our medical staff.

We are offering an outstanding opportunity for a board eligible/certified orthopedic surgeon who will join six others in our hospital employed Orthopedic Surgery practice.  We are seeking candidates for General Orthopedic Surgery, as well as Orthopedic/Hand Surgery. The incoming physician will earn a salary guarantee plus productivity based on wRVUs and quality/customer bonuses. We also provide excellent benefits, paid malpractice, six weeks vacation and a week off for CME (plus a $5,000 CME allowance). A signing bonus and student loan repayment are available as well.

Ashland, KY is a town with a population of about 25,000 people, located along the Ohio River. We have a nice, clean town with minimal traffic, a beautiful and very active performing arts theater, indoor tennis center, a large downtown park, and boutique shopping. Our Tri-State region (Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia) is renowned for safe, family friendly communities with an excellent cost of living. We also have some of the country’s finest state parks and other outdoor areas that feature golf, skiing, boating, fishing, hunting and biking. We have four seasons, all of which are relatively mild. We’re also a short drive to metro cities in Ohio (Cincinnati and Columbus) and Kentucky (Lexington and Louisville). And we are located about 20 minutes from Huntington, WV, a town about twice the size of Ashland and the home of Marshall University. Additionally, about two hours away in West Virginia, there is excellent snow skiing and the New River Gorge National Park, which offers multiple outdoor activities such as whitewater rafting, rock climbing and hiking.
